Photography 101 Tips

Photography 101:  Introduction

So you just bought  your brand new DSLR camera.  The salesman assured you that you would be shooting like a pro in no time.  Just set the camera to automatic mode and your ready to take amazing photos.  Sounds simple, right?

So you start snapping away.  You look at the picture on the LCD screen on the back of your camera and you like what you see.  Then you download your pictures to your computer.  To your horror when you look at the pictures on your computer screen you find that many of the photos are either blurry, too bright or too dark or are full of little coloured dots throughout the picture.  Now you’re wondering what happened to your beautiful picture that looked so great on the LCD screen on the back of the camera?  Is my camera broken?

Your camera isn’t broken.  Images often look better on the tiny LCD screen on the camera because they are so small that you can’t really see details like digital noise, etc…  Your camera will not live up to its creative potential while in automatic mode.  Don’t worry I can help. If you would like to learn how to take photos that are more professional looking please subscribe to my blog.  It is my goal with this series of articles to help you get there.  I hope you will join me in this journey to becoming a better photographer.
